About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient healing modality used in various Asian cultures in which needles are inserted into specific points on the body. These single-use, sterilized needles, are very thin (unlike hypodermic needles) and fairly painless.

Energy (Qi) flows in channels, referred to as meridians, throughout the body. Acupuncture points are the specific points on the meridians where the Qi is most concentrated and accessible.

Adjusting and redirecting the Qi activates the body’s innate healing response to rebalance itself, thus alleviating specific symptoms, as well as increasing circulation to the localized area, calming the mind, and preventing illness.

Scientific studies confirm that acupuncture treatment causes the release of endorphins and dopamine, the neurotransmitters responsible for, respectively, reducing sensations of pain and improving mood.
