Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

Dirk Schlueter is a California Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.), a nationally certified Diplomate of Chinese medicine (NCCAOM) and a Chinese medical practitioner. Dirk holds a master’s degree in traditional Chinese medicine (MSTCM) and a doctoral degree in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine (DACM) from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM/ CIIS) in San Francisco. He has been providing acupuncture to patients in the ACTCM community and auricular (ear) clinics, the Center for Somatic Psychotherapy at CIIS, the CPMC Stroke and Rehabilitation Center, and to Bay Area veterans through the BayVac program, as well as at various outreach events. Dirk volunteered and worked at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and has worked for several years at the Lotus Center in private practice.

Dirk believes that an integrative approach – including health promotion, illness prevention, lifestyle changes, and treatment of the underlying causes of disease — is the key to achieving wellness. As a general practitioner, Dirk addresses all conditions and ailments, with specific attention to anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, pain and immune deficiencies.

Prior to his career as an acupuncturist, Dirk worked as a dramaturg and artistic director in the performing arts in Germany, China, and Japan. Through his work with performers and his experience in China over the past twenty years, Dirk was introduced to the profound healing and balancing potential of Chinese Medicine.
